THE HEALTH PROFESSIONAL DRAFT IS THE INAUGURAL FUNDRAISING EVENT FOR YOUTH MEDICAL MENTORSHIP.
The Health Professional Draft serves as Youth Medical Mentorship’s premier annual fundraising and awareness event, celebrating the next generation of healthcare leaders while advancing equitable access to medical career pathways.
Youth Medical Mentorship (YMM) was founded to address a critical and persistent gap in healthcare: the lack of representation, access, and sustained mentorship for students from underrepresented communities pursuing careers in medicine and allied health. YMM exists to change that narrative — not through inspiration alone, but through intentional recruitment, long-term mentorship, and real-world professional exposure.
YMM’s mission is bold and innovative: to recruit future healthcare professionals the same way elite athletes are recruited — early, intentionally, and with long-term development in mind. From middle school through professional training, YMM provides students with the guidance, resources, and confidence needed to see themselves not just as participants in healthcare, but as leaders shaping its future.
Today, Youth Medical Mentorship continues to build a comprehensive pipeline that prepares students for careers in medicine, nursing, and allied health by combining mentorship, career exploration, academic support, and professional development. The organization remains deeply committed to equity, access, and opportunity — ensuring that talent is never overlooked because of circumstance.
The Health Professional Draft brings this mission to life in an unforgettable way. Inspired by the athletic draft model, this event honors YMM Fellows as elite prospects entering their professional journeys. It is a celebration of impact, perseverance, and possibility.
